Where It Started
My name is Muaad Sucule, and I am a poet and writer.
I started writing poetry in 2022, in my early twenties. At first, writing was simply a way of expressing thoughts and experiences that were difficult to put into ordinary conversation. Over time, it became something more. Poetry became a way of thinking, observing and making sense of the world around me.
What began as personal expression gradually became a wider exploration of identity, ideas, relationships, history, spirituality, civilisation and the strange contradictions of being human.
That exploration became Muaad’s Poetry.
Shedding Light
Shedding Light
The pen has always been at the centre of Muaad’s Poetry.
It is an instrument for exploring experience, ideas and the world around me. The new symbol of Muaad’s Poetry brings that idea together: the pen represents the act of writing, while the light represents what the writing is searching for.
I call this Shedding Light.
For me, shedding light does not mean having an answer to everything. It means making something clearer. A feeling, an idea, a contradiction, a piece of history, a question or an experience that might otherwise remain in the dark.
Poetry can illuminate without explaining everything.
It can give us another way of seeing.
That is what I want Muaad’s Poetry to do.

The books

Contradictory Poet is a poetry album, named for a tension I’ve never fully resolved, the part of me that wants to let go and the part that wants to build something that outlasts me. I stopped trying to settle it and started writing from that seam instead.
The Poetry
My poetry moves between the personal and the universal.
Some poems begin with a memory or an experience. Others begin with an idea, a question, an observation or something I have encountered in the world.
I write about love, identity, relationships, philosophy, spirituality, history, civilisation, humour, absurdity, contradiction and the ordinary moments of being alive.
Sometimes the subject is serious. Sometimes it is playful. Sometimes it is both.
I am less interested in fitting poetry into a category than in seeing where a poem can take us.
The Writer
Alongside poetry, I have explored fiction, essays and other forms of writing.
My academic background is in International Communications and Management, followed by a Master’s in Media & Innovation. These experiences have shaped my interest in communication, culture, technology and the ways people make meaning in an increasingly complex world.
But much of what enters my writing comes from outside the classroom: books, conversations, places, people, experiences, questions and the things that happen when life refuses to follow the plan.
I am still learning, and the work continues to change as I do.
Why I Write
I write because language can make something visible that was previously difficult to see.
A poem does not always need to provide an answer. Sometimes it makes a question clearer. Sometimes it preserves a moment. Sometimes it gives shape to something that was difficult to articulate. Sometimes it simply asks us to stop moving long enough to notice what is in front of us.
Writing allows me to explore those things without needing to reduce them to a single conclusion.
The work continues to change as I do, but the purpose has become increasingly simple:
to shed light.
The Symbol
The symbol of Muaad’s Poetry brings together three ideas: the pen, the star and light.
The pen represents writing itself: the instrument through which thoughts, experiences and questions become words.
The star represents illumination and orientation. It is a small point of light against something much larger, reminding us that clarity does not require us to see everything at once.
Together, they form the idea behind the new tagline:
Shedding Light.
Not illuminating everything. Not telling people what to think.
Simply bringing something into view.
That is what I hope the writing can do.
