What I learnt/remembered during my hiatus….

For a long time I thought I had to find an identity or a philosophy to hold in my poetry. I got obsessed with this and fell into a trap.

It distracted me from why I became a poet in the first place.

The reality is that being a poet doesn’t mean struggling to hold onto anything, whether that’s an identity or a set of ideas. Being a poet means living in the moment, being present. It’s expressing and it’s being.

It’s stepping into the greatness that is the unfolding of life and putting it into words. It’s letting your unique personality colour your words.

Being a poet isn’t about holding onto something or proving something.

It’s about becoming and expressing your experience, and in that process you find the joy of understanding the eternal now, the eternal moment, which is life itself.

Going forward, blogs will be less about ideas and what I think and more about being.
